Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Trailer

Note: May not be safe for work due to blood and gore.

This is a game developed by Platinum Games (Bayonetta) in collaboration with Kojima Productions (Metal Gear Solid). Although bearing the Metal Gear name, keep in mind that this more like a spin-off the MG series. Looks like no Snake here, no sneaking around and stealth stuff. Like Bayonetta, it looks more like a hack and slash fast-paced game.

Not sure if want… Why is raiden a syborg? :S (I think that this is raiden, isn’t he?)

PLatinum Games should be ashamed of themselves. A spin-off of MGS is a sin. This would be a cool game if the overall title had been changed to something that has got nothing to do with Konami and MG(S)

I’m clearly the only one with a clue here so I’ll give my feedback, after all mine is the only one worth lending. Platinum Games was an excellent partner for this entry because Raiden, as a character is not a stealth oriented character.

Although this game does have the MG name and although it takes place before Guns of the Patriots it does not follow Snake. Lames talking about it’s not an MGS game no shit. Solid isn’t anywhere in the title. It’s a Metal Gear game which is following a different character.

Getting back to Platinum’s influence, because Raiden’s exploits in MGS4 were completely over the top during the cutscenes, Konami needed to partner with a group, a company that could make that same over the top insanity part of the actual gameplay. No one is better in doing that than Platinum Games so the team up was genius.

Now to give some actual feedback on the trailer which I suppose is a point many of you missed. I have two issues: one is related to plot the other is related to mechanics.

I know we’re looking at a trailer but the control looks choppy as hell. Raiden seems so stiff and yeah I know he’s a robot but just watching the gameplay shouldn’t remind me of that fact. They still have some time before the game comes out so here is hoping they make the gameplay more fluid because a guy like me (a real gamer) can already tell controlling him is going to be a bitch.

My other issue is with the plot. Just how many cyborg soldiers are there? If there are like, a lot of these guys running around Raiden really doesn’t seem all that special anymore.

Just for the record, this is the kind of feedback that people call constructive criticism. Don’t hate. Duplicate.

Btw, there are about four of you talking crap about the game yes? I guarantee two of you are going to buy this before I will. I’m just Saiyan. WAKA WAKA!

Sure I want. I loved Bayonetta, and never really liked MGS’s gameplay anyways. Hopefully the story and controls end up being good, could never finish otherwise.

a different char thats exactly it! this kind of thing is no metal gear omg its a different game ! sneaking missions ! being a soldier who is using guns is metal gear not a ninja! thats not “metal gear!” its just some ninja game!

Wow Flupser, you have a lot of opinions for someone who doesn’t know anything about MG. A ninja, more specifically a cyborg ninja has been a mainstay of the series since the days where MG was on the PS. Using a secondary character is also something that we’ve seen MGS do in the past. And contrary to what you have led yourself to believe while TEA has been a mainstay of the series Kojima’s team has shaken up the formula with titles like Acid and Acid 2. Of course I’m sure yours are the rantings of some hater who “just doesn’t get it.” And really once the sales start rolling in you’ll appear even more insignificant than you already are but why play games. When this thing hits the shelves you’re going to be the first one to buy it.

Metal Gear franchise is a really big success. The gameplay is cool, even in Playstation1 where the metal gear series started. So cool, love this game.
